Some U.S. Men's Clay Court familiar faces have been up to quite a bit, both on and off the court, this season. Here's what you've missed on the ATP World Tour!
Isner, Party of Three: Just a few weeks ago, 2013 champion John Isner and his wife Madison welcomed their first child together, Hunter Grace Isner. Here’s hoping we see this little cutie at River Oaks in 2019!
Titletown USA: Two-time defending champion Steve Johnson showcased a great year on all surfaces, winning the grass-court tournament inNewport and reaching the hard-court final in Winston Salem.
Team Tiafoe: Earlier this month, American young gun Frances Tiafoe joined Team USA in Croatia as a first-time participant in Davis Cup. Although the American men went on to fall to the Croatians 2-2, Tiafoe relished the team experience, “I was doing it for something more than myself."
Watch Out Bob!: The Bryan Brothers are no stranger to ATP World Tour success, claiming a record 116 titles together. But with Bob sidelined and in need of hip surgery earlier this year, Mike paired up with another U.S. Clay favorite, Jack Sock. Since joining forces at Wimbledon, the pair have won two Major titles together, launching Mike back up to world No.1 in the process.
Advantage Anderson: It’s been quite the 12 months for Kevin Anderson, who stunned fans last year in New York when he soared into his first Major final. Anderson followed up his later 2017 success with a run to the Wimbledon final, falling to a resurgent Novak Djokovic. Just last week, the big serving South African avenged that loss at Chicago’s Laver Cup, besting Djokovic to help keep Team World in contention for the crown.
Next up for the stars, the Asian swing! Stay tuned to see how your favorites fare in the final few weeks of the 2018 season.
