The Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship along with Keith and Alice Mosing have combined to donate $60,000 to Pediatric Trauma at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital following the 2016 tournament at River Oaks Country Club.
Three sources combined to fund the donation. The first portion of the funds came from the tournament’s Ticket Turnback Program, which allows series ticket holders who know they cannot attend a particular session to donate those tickets back to the tournament. When those tickets are re-sold, the entire purchase price is donated to the hospital.
In 2016, this initiative raised $17,500 dollars for Pediatric Trauma at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. In the eight years of the program, the tournament has raised $120,000 for charity through these ticket sales.
This year, tournament organizers contributed an additional $12,500 to the hospital, bringing the donation to $30,000.
Keith and Alice Mosing, longtime supporters of both the hospital and the tournament, pledged to match that amount, doubling the total donation to $60,000.
In addition to the donation, the tournament’s support of the hospital once again included a visit by ATP World Tour stars to the patients at the facility at the Texas Medical Center. This year’s visit was made by Americans Bjorn Fratangelo and Brian Baker. The tournament arranges this player visit every year during the event.
The 2017 Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship will be April 8-16 at River Oaks Country Club.
