HOUSTON – The doubles semifinals are set for the 2011 US Men’s Clay Court Championship, and leading the charge for the title are the top two seeds.
On Friday afternoon, second seeds Eric Butorac and Jean-Julien Rojer will battle John Isner and Sam Querrey.
Isner and Querrey, often known as “Team Quisner,” reached their first semifinal of 2011 with a 7-6(5) 6-1 win over fellow Americans Denis Kudla and Donald Young.
Butorac and Rojer are contesting their fifth semifinal of the year, a series of results that includes a run to the final four at the Australian Open.
Three-time doubles champions Bob and Mike Bryan headline the nighttime doubles action, as they will face off against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Pablo Cuevas.
Garcia-Lopez and Cuevas, who won a 3-6 6-3 10-4 match on Thursday over Travis Rettenmaier and Horacio Zeballos will play against each other in singles on Friday afternoon before teaming up to face the Bryans at night.
