HOUSTON – The initial acceptance list of the first 23 singles players entered into the US Men’s Clay Court Championship was released this week, and it included six Americans, two former champions of the event, and a former World No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam Champion. This group will be joined by the No. 1 doubles team in the world to play in the 75th tournament at River Oaks Country Club from April 6-12.

James Blake will be playing during the Tuesday, April 7th evening session! As last year's finalist, Blake will be out to get back to the finals so don't miss this first match. Since starting 2009, Blake has reached the fourth round at the Australian Open losing to 2008 Champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

We are thrilled to announce the committment from Bob & Mike Bryan, the world #1 Doubles team to participate in the 2009 US Men's Clay Court Championship. This dynamic duo won three Masters Series events in 2008 in Miami, Rome, and Cincinnati. In addition to this, they represented the United States at the Beijing Olympics and brought home the bronze medal.

We are so pleased and excited to announce that Lleyton Hewitt (AUS) has committed to play in the 2009 US Men's Clay Court Championship at River Oaks. Lleyton is a former world # 1 and is the youngest player in ATP history to achieve the top ranking spot.

It has been confirmed; River Oaks Country Club will once again host the US Men’s Clay Court Championships. A four year agreement has been reached with the United States Tennis Association confirming the club will host the annual championship through 2012. After pulling off an enormously successful event in 2008 River Oaks Country Club is excited to host the Championship once again.
